Some Things You Should Do While You’re in Atlanta

One of the perks of travel nursing is getting to explore new places. With that in mind, we want to recommend a few things to see and do while you’re traveling to some of the wonderful places that Adex can take you to. This week, we want to highlight some of the awesome things you can experience while traveling to the great city of Atlanta, Georgia. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but should get you well on your way to filling your assignment with new experiences.
Atlanta History Center
If you’re interested in discovering the history of the places you travel to on assignment, make plans to visit the Atlanta History Center. This treasure trove of a museum brings Atlanta’s rich history to life with its landmark historical buildings and six permanent exhibits. They have several temporary and traveling exhibits running at any one time as well. Learn more about the available exhibitions and plan your trip by checking out their website.
Whether you’re going to take in a show or just to take in the fabulous architecture, the historical Fox Theatre is a must see for anyone staying in Atlanta. It’s at the center of the namesake Fox Theatre Historic District in Midtown, and you’re invited to go inside without a ticket to marvel at the unique architecture of the building. The design has Islamic and Egyptian influences, drawing inspiration from the Temple of Ramses II. With a little planning, though, you can really experience the theatre by attending a show. Click here to see what will be running during your assignment.
The Georgia Aquarium
You can’t visit Atlanta without visiting the largest aquarium in the United States and second largest in the world. And it really is worth the trip! The gorgeous facilities are home to more than 100,000 species of animals. You could easily spend the whole day at this aquarium, or grab a map and prioritize the areas that you would like to see most. Make sure you check out their website before you go to find out about events and shows that take place during your visit, and to figure out how to make the most of the time you have there.
The World of Coca Cola
While you’re checking out the Georgia Aquarium, why not explore the famous Coca Cola museum located nearby?
Atlanta is chock full of interesting commercial locations, and one of these is The World of Coca Cola museum. If Coca Cola fuels your late night shifts, you might be excited to take a peek behind the curtain and see the history and making of the iconic soft drink. The World of Coca Cola is a museum that will show you how coke became the popular drink it is today, as well as reveal glimpses of the production line. The best part in our opinion though is the taste testing bar where you’ll be able to sample Coca Cola from all over the world. Some of these flavors are quite interesting!
Krog Street Tunnel
If street art is more your thing, you should definitely find time to visit the Krog Street Tunnel. It’s a free way to experience one of the things that makes Atlanta special, and also a great opportunity to find out about local events. The tunnel is constantly being contributed to by local artists and it’s stunning to look at.
