Unit Notes:Submits go directly to the manager for consideration.MUST HAVE: MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS ACUTE CARE EXPERIENCE; CURRENT CNA AND/OR EMT CERTIFICATION IN GOOD STANDING; CURRENT BLS(Note: Cell phones are not to be used while working)Unit Name: Tele Monitor TechNumber of Beds: Techs watch a total of 65 or less bedsEach tech watches: 65 or less patientsRequired certifications: BLS and demonstrated competency of EKG monitoring and EKG interpretationJob duties: Usage of sepsis application for notification of care team, when flagged Monitors cardiac rhythms and/or O2 sats Obtains baseline ECG strip on all monitored patients according to department guidelines Records post cardiac strips following established procedures Updates and verifies patient data in information system Maintains unit/department specific records as assigned Recognizes rhythms with potential to alter patients physiology, obtains a ECG strips, and immediately reports all arrhythmias to the RN responsible for patient following protocols Maintains current knowledge of technical operations & capabilities of monitoring station, maintains alarms to protocol and responds appropriately to alarms, identifies/troubleshoots routine technical problems and sends workorders for repairs when necessary Handles incoming/outgoing communication, answers questions, and assists staff per protocol Gives accurate shift report relating to patient s condition and rhythm status consistentlyCharge Nurse/HS: ICU charge nurse oversees with HS coverage as wellExperience: experience with cardiac monitor and rhythm interpretation. Previous experience with a patient care module or personal computer; knowledgeable in medical terminologyShifts/Weekends/Holidays: Minimum 4 weekend shifts a month. 6AM/PM start time. 12 hour shifts. Standby is a possibility but rare. Holiday rotation, but need not expected to extend to next holiday season. Floating: potentially depending on staffing need and skillset of traveler. Unlikely given the shortage within this area. Monitor room is normally staffed with 2 people, never less, and rarely a third once ratios are maxed out.
